I was out at the lake fishing and slowed down to talk, and my motor shutt off when I stoped. It took me about 2 minutes or so to get the motor started. When it started it smoked like I flodded it. It ran good at idle but when given over a third gas or more it would dog down. I ran it for ten minutes and it started running at full speed agian, it made a weird knock at first and then it stoped. It would be running at full speed and it would dog down and go up, down and so on (stutter). It ran at top speed most of the way back (8 miles) to the truck. The gas is about 7 months old if that helps. The motor has'nt had more than five gallons ran through it since it was bought new. I always unplug the feul line and run it out of gas before I leave. Any recomendations are appreciated Thanks!!!

Who Let The Dogs Out? Woot...Woot-Woot-Woot.

Hey Mr. 12Gauge.
I'm not an expert, or even a trustworthy person, but I think you have a case of the fuel varnish blues. Your problem definately sounds like it is feul system related. Many times the deposits left over from the natural decomposition of feul over time clog up the passgeways leading up to and through the carb. It sounds to me like the carb's bowl is running low on gasolino. This could be due to blockages in the carb or in the supply lines feeding it. Check all feul hoses and filters for obstructions and/or air leaks. If that does not give up the ghost its probably time for a carburator and or fuel pump rebuild.
Also, the symptoms you gave are commonly observed when there is water in the gas. Definately get rid of the old stuff and give it another try.

Waiting for admiral level confirmation.. out

dump the rest of that gas in your tow vehicle, mix up some fresh gas for your boat and try it again. if that doesn't fix the problem then you may need to disassemble and clean the carb.
