i have finally decided to get another boat. i had to total out my last one three years ago to an unfortunate sand bar accident ~ i miss it dearly!

i want to know what anyone thinks about what i have my eye on: 1997 bayliner capri 2050 - 5.7 merc

the interrior is pretty good, the gelcoat has some fading (to be expected on a boat this old) but can be cleaned up with a little wet sanding/elbow grease and the trailer...well the trailer works but it will need some cosmetics.

i have owned several boats in the past (closed bow runabout 16', cuddy 21', and a catamaran14') but never an open bow. I think with my family and love of watersports, that an open bow is a good decision...

so what experiances have you had with bayliner? and with an open bow? i would think with a 350 and the boat only weighing in the mid 2k's that this oughta run like a raped date!!

its an alpha drive...i learned my lesson once before with older vp drives...their bullet proof, but when something does go wrong...look out!

im gathering that the dry weight is going to be somewhere around the mid to upper 2's. towing sould be fine...last one was 4300 on trailer and that was getting to be no fun...
