1997 Evenrude 140hp help fast please

I have a 1997 140hp Evinrude and when we are runing the boat at about 4000rpms the motor will start to lose power then pick right back up.Some days it will only do this once and it will run fine all day then on some days it will do it alot where i think i wont make it back into the harbor.<br /><br />I have changed Fuel filter,Spark plugs,Gas lines and bulb,and have used carb cleaner on the carbs and it still dose this.Can someone please help me with ths it is driving me crazy. :( :( <br /><br />Thanks<br />BadBoy

Have you checked the fuel tank vent to make sure it is clear...<br /><br /> Are all of the fuel line connections good and tight... Outboards can be finickey about even the smallest fuel line leaks...<br /><br />Fuel tanks can also cause strange problems... Specificaly, the pick up tube inside the tank can leak and pull in air where the tube is connected to the tank fitting causing problems like you describe... Try running the engine on a small portable fuel tank and see if the problem still exists...

Hi BadBoy...How much RPM are you losing? Sounds like something in a bowl floating around and eventually getting up against a jet. When this occurs, are you in rough water or smooth?
