Oil mixing was bypassed on this unit, new power pack, new plugs, new impeller, this baby have low hours and it was serviced few weeks ago and it was not used since then....it started right up and it was running rough, after we cleaned carbs it turned out it was running on one cyl. then two, then one.....coroded wire post on lower coil connector was causing it - fixed. Another thing is that it was running in limp mode, not over 2200-2500rpm's...Completely cold motor gets started and when it goes thru all check lights - alarm sounds and "HOT" light goes ON....head is cold to the touch and tell-tale is strong, both cylinders run, need idle adjustment...Was looking for similar issues on forum and couldn't find one similar...help needed, clueless...THANKS

Try disconnecting the tan wire from the cyl head temp switch once and see what happens.

Disconnected wire from the switch - no changes. Alarm still ON and "HOT" light still ON...

Omc had probs with those tachs back in those years doing what yours is doing. It may just be a tach/system gauge check engine problem.

It turned out that beige wire was cut/disconnected somewhere between tacho and the temp. sensor. Installed new wire from sensor to tacho and light did not come ON after that...
