Basic design is Chrysler, but when Merc bought Force from USMarine, They made lots of updates.<br /><br />Lower units are the same as many Merc and Mariner.<br />They are thru the hub exhaust.<br />Easy to find Merc props.<br />Ignition and charging systems are all Merc. <br />Fuel pump is Merc.<br />97 should have a Merc tilt and trim also.<br />Parts are redily available from Merc.<br /><br />Very simple and basic.<br />Check it out well, do the maintenance, it should serve the purpose.<br /><br />That being said, it should be a lot cheaper than a Merc or other brand, as not many people are looking for them.<br />Play the Force name as a negative when negotiating, and you could get a real bargain.
