on the cowling the motor has a couple of hoses that go to 2 fittings. upon inspection i find one of them has something that looks metal inside it..no idea what it does. the other larger one on the left has a plug in it. under the plug looks like some kind of valve. anybody know what these do and where is the tell tale?
i just replaced the water pump so it seems like it is cooling ok..the fitting on the left on the lower cowling was leaking after i did the water pump so i know there is water getting to the fittings by the way.

Telltale is lower starboard side of motor cowling. These are usually downstream of thermostats, which may never open when using the flusher.

actually, there is a telltale right in the middle of the cowling..i described it above..it was just plugged with something that made me think it was not plugged but something that was supposed to be there.
i got it going but it does not flow constantly..it kind of spurts regularly.
i removed the thermostats to inspect them because the left bank of cylinders was getting hot and the right side was cool.
looks like the right one was pretty clean but the left one was corroded looking.
i will post the results when i change them next week.
thanks for the info on the flusher...that may prove helpful.
