Hey guys,

If I didn't know any better, I would swear that my timing changes while I am running the boat. Is this possible? The distributor is tight...it is not moving. Could this indicate a worn belt or something?

Thanks in advance,
Trev

Yea, thats normal. That's what the advance does. Changes timing for different rpm.

Yep, I know about timing advance....I mean that my timing settings don't seem to stay the same. The timing settings seem to "slip"?

Got some degree numbers of what it's doing? As you should know, the EST distributor has to be put in base timing mode (Basically locked so the timing won't move) so the timing can be set. Then once it is released from base timing mode, it moves all over the place, even at idle.

Possibly the crank pulley (vibration damper) has sheared off the key, or gotten loose, or the counterweight is slipping, or has slipped, on the crank pulley.
