1997 Yamaha 225 SWS-II Model S225TXRV.

When I tilt the motor up, the next morning the motor has dropped down to the trim. The motor remains at the top end of the trim. the trim piston is good. this rules out the manual release valve, correct?
I am guessing there is a problem in the power tilt piston with a slow leak/seal. i do not see any hydralic fluid leaks externally. do you know what part numbers would be essential in rebuilding this? I looked on boats.net and could not make out the parts needed in the diagram.

Thanks, Greg.

I'm just taking a guess, but could there be air in the line if there are no visible leaks? Could the air swap places with the fluid overnight causing the drop? I am curious myself about your problem. I will watch your thread to learn something here.

Re: 1997 Yamaha 225 tilt problem

The problem has been happening ever since I bought the boat, in 2000. I have checked the fluid levels and would think that the system would bleed itself with use.
Since the trim ram holds its position, I am ruling out air in the system and the manual release seat seals and am focusing on just the tilt ram.
I just ordered all the seals/o-rings for the the tilt ram and will rebuild in the next few weeks.

any thoughts?
thanks.
