I am looking at a 1998 Suzuki 140hp motor for my boat. The marine shop selling it is asking $2200. It is a very clean motor. Starts and runs well in the dunk tank.

Now here is my concern. The compression range is 140-120. On four cylinders. I have always thought a more that 10psi range is not good. The marine mechanic at the shop is telling me that because this motor is a EFI controlled 2stroke, they came from the factory with different compression ratios per cylinder?

This sounds sketch to me, and looking for someone who can confirm or deny this.

Thanks.

Were they all near 140psi and one down by 120 or were they all spread out?
Sounds like quackery to me as each headbolt/ con rod bolt would have a different torque spec

135,120,140,125. That is cylinders 1-4.

I don't believe what your tech told you. I therefore recommend you scratch both the outboard and the tech. . .permanently.

Yea, he is not my tech. This is just at a local marine shop. Saw the add on Craigslist. I will never use these guys at all. Thanks for the help.

The number is 10% different. Not 10 PSI.
