1998 200 efi charging issue

did a quick ck with a volt meter and the battery reads 12.2 then started the boat at idle and i reads the same ,, im guessing she is not charging, any ideas on where to look for the problem or is it a trip to the doctor:'( thanks in advance

You may need to speed the engine up to get it to start charging.
Have you even looked at the belt to see if it's there and TIGHT? Loose belts won't charge either.

thanks for the quick response i raised the idle to maybe 1200/1500 rpm and no major change both batterys are new and fully charged,, if im correct their is no belt, it a 2stroke , i searched the site and rectifier kept showing up, do u think that might be it and are they easy to switch out?

Sorry about that, I was thinking DFI, not EFI. The Optimax engines do have alternators.

no worries im hoping to test it some way,, the rectifier is 80 bucks

i did another voltage test w a good meter 12.4 without the motor running 13.6 with the motor running at 1500rpm,, that sounds about right,,
