What I have is a 1998 Volvo/OMC 4.3Gi. The engine model is 43FBPBYC. The problem i am having is when the boat is cold, it has a very hard time starting. What it does is if you leave the throttle in the neautral position, the engine will catch for a second and then die. If you try to give it any throttle it wont evn catch, like its choking itself out. Whne it finally does start running with the slightest bit of throttle, the idle is all over the place. After its running it runs perfectly. All day long you can shut it off and start it right up. This is only a problemn when cold. It acts like a sensor issue to me. Im just not sure which one? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to hook it up to a scan tool and find out what it's doing. It could be the ECT telling the ECM that the engine is warm which wouldn't allow the extra fuel needed for a cold engine. That would NOT set a code.

I was thinking along those same lines. Is the scan tool only a dealer item? If that is the problem, how involved is the fix? I really appreciated the info and quick response. Steve:D
