My father in law bought this pontoon about 5 years ago. It set outside with a half a tank of gas in it without being winterized. I know... what a dumb*****! I drained the gas...adding 93 octane & Lucas fuel additive...I cleaned the plugs...added a NEW fuel filter...cleaned the carbs & the squirts. It started right up after about 10 seconds with hardly no choking. I took it out on the water today and under the load of the water...it would not idle. I did somehow get it to idle...but it would barely pull itself off the trailer. At dock it would idle but on occasion it would spit and sputter and die. I finally got it out in the open water and went to go to max throttle and then it would attempt to die until I pulled back on the throttle. The mechanic told me I needed to rebuild the fule pump diaphram so I did order it. My father in law informed me tonight that he attempted to adjust the 3 linkage screws a couple of years ago. I believe these 3 screws are the ones that goe to the "spark advance", one for the "forward and reverse gear", and one for the intial idle that is by the "forward and reverse gear". I am a little lost at what why he tried this but to no avail...I probably need to correct these settings...but do not know how. I have drained the bowls and sparayed carb cleaner in them but I do not know if the carbs screws need adjusted or not. The serial numbers is 0G649358. Any help would be great. I do have a manual for 1995-04 Yamaha/Mercury/Mariner outboard but nothing looks close to what I have.
