I have a 1998 Johnson 50 with no spark.it has good compression 140 psi on both cylinders.my dad took it out to get some lobster he said it ran the best ever since he's gone out, then he goes to start it NOTHING!!! He got towed back in.i changed the coil pack and tightened my powerpack connections and it ran great for a day.next day I go to start it and nothing.this motor has a history of no spark as this is not the first time it's happened.sometimes I just want to unbolt it and let it go haha.but I really want to fix this problem I don't know if the stator is working intermittingly or what.all help is appreciated thanks Keith

Reattach the emergency lanyard!! :)

Electrical is hard to troubleshoot if you can't replicate the symptoms, but the first place to look when you got no spark any cylinder is the kill circuit.

The black/yellow wire coming off the powerpack, when connected to ground, short-circuits the powerpack, killing spark and shutting off the engine.

If somewhere along in there you got some burned/chafed/missing insulation, you can get intermittent accidental contact or arcing to ground. If it's a metal boat you got even more opportunity for a short.

Could also be a loose wire in the control box, faulty keyswitch or kill switch. Or, inside the powerpack itself.

Dirt or moisture in the main wiring harness plug. That sorta thing.
