Hello all,
I am looking at a 1998 70hp Evinrude outboard that is for sale at my local marina. The engine looks to be in relatively good condition and the owner will water test it for me if necessary (it is still on his boat). Anyway, I was wondering if you guys knew of anything in particular that I should look out for when scoping out the engine. I am going to do a compression test, check the spark plugs for wear/oil, check the lower unit oil, and, as I have said, do a water test, but I wanted to see if there was something that has been problematic on these engines that I should look out for. Thanks alot......... any advice will be much appreciated.
Also, he is asking $1000 for just the engine (no prop or harnesses). Is this a good price? Thanks again
