I installed a 1998 90 hp johnson motor on my 1995 17' Stratus center console...it run's great with the motor trimed down..put when i start to trim the motor up the front end bounce...so i have to trim the motor back down....I got the finn at the bottom off the boat as close as i could....I could go down one more hole...But the motor were it sets on the boat hits before the bolt holes line up....Im not sure what to do....One more thing I have and i hope this is not to much......A 90 hp should push my 17' boat good....But on take off it goes....but slow and it slowly picks up spend...

raise the motor so the plate is 1 to 1 1/2 inches above the keel. what pitch prop are you using. too high pitch is slow out of the hole, but fast on plane. move the motor up, then check wot rpms. optimum should be 5000-5500. then adjust prop so you get to the proper rpms. as far as the porpoising, that is a trim and weight load problem.
