Hey, I just bought a 98 Chaparral Sig 300 and was curious if anyone knew how many BTUs the stock AC was? Would a 2000 watt portable generator run it? Thanks

answering even though I know youre most likely a spammer because of the question

you dont run portable generators on boats
if your boat has a marine AC installation, it also has a marine genny

LOL! I'm not sure why this question makes me a spammer? I'm a rookie and asked a genuine question. This boat has an AC unit but no on board generator. I have also heard and seen multiple boaters use portable generators. I'm trying to figure out how much power I need to power certain things before investing hundreds of dollars on the wrong item. Thank you for the warm welcome! I'll check the chaparral forums. I should have thought of that but like I said, Im a rookie.

The wording of your question may have led to assumptions. We've been a target lately and are a little edgy.

Inadvertently rude sometimes, too. Sorry. :welcome:

This "was curious if anyone knew how many BTUs the stock AC was?" implies you have no existing AC unit to have need of a generator.

A word of warning - Be careful using a portable genny, actually any generator, without a carbon monoxide alarm.

Hope the Chap forum has an answer. We can and do help with most things boating, but can be be stumped every once in a while. Let us know what you come up with so we learn from you.
