Can anyone provide me with the diode number or specs for the in-line diode that is in the BRP kit 0583898. I doubt that I need one and do not want to buy the (no returns!) part from my dealer, but if I can get the diode at an electronics shop it may help me confirm that it is not the problem.
I am chasing down an electrical gremlin that I suspect may be in the wiring harness and per the OMC diagnostics procedure a bad diode may be the problem. I have tested the diodes to be ok, but the problem is intermittent. Nothing shows up when I run the engine diagnostics on the laptop.
FWIW, the intermittent problem is: Ignition on, all instrument panel test lights come on and go out as normal, but the fuel pump does not always start its 7-10 second cycle until AFTER anywhere from 10 to ~30 seconds, then the pump comes on, the engine starts and runs great. Sometimes the pump (read 70A main power relay) will not come on at all until you cycle the key a few times, and sometimes it fires right up.
I have 2 engines and have swapped out the relays to no avail. I may try swapping the power distribution panels next, though I strongly suspect a grounding issue somewhere (corrosion).
Thanks for any help.
