Going to change water pump assembly and thermostat before spring, mercury marine list 2 thermostats.130 degree that the service manual calls for,$13.75 .But then they list a OPT,118 degree for $51.05. Whats the difference between these to create the cost difference? Thanks !!

I have no idea why the cost difference.
Also no idea why you would want a 118* stat.
Force thermostats that I've seen are either 130* or 143*.

You can also get an aftermarket thermostat from NAPA for about $9, but it will likely take two trips there to get it, one to order it, one to pick it up.

If you plan on doing lots of trolling I would go with the 143* tstat or a set of warmer plugs

Location, location, location. Colder water needs hotter Tstat. Also the lower Tstat is for high performance (racing), thats why it cost more $$$. At least thats what my mechanic tells me!
