Can anyone tell me what the powerhead base is supposed to look like? I've attached before and after shots of mine. There was significant corrosion at the fore section of the base on both the exhaust cover (midsection) and the powerhead base. I added JB weld to fill the area after sandblasting it clean. A service tech at one of the local boat shops told me that area doesn't really do anything, but I'm wondering if it isn't a back-pressure thing or maybe something else where that slot is. It looks like it was originally narrower than I ended up. Any thoughts?
