My 1998 Johnson 225 blew up a few days ago and the block that was on it is beyond repair. I do have another block that is in good shape other than the fact that it is missing a sleeve in one of the cylinders. I was looking around online and have found a few places that sell them. One of the websites had one that said it was for a 1998 Johnson 225 Ocean Pro. Is this the same sleeve or are the Ocean Pro models different?

Also, how hard is it to replace a sleeve? How accurate does the angle of the sleeve need to be? I was planning to have a machine shop do it, but while I was posting I thought I would ask.

Thanks

just take it to the machine shop. they can get the sleeves for less than you can.

This is not a DIY repair. Make sure you have cooling mod done to block and replace all pistons no matter how good they look.

Thanks for the input. I will just leave this part to the professionals. Do you have any recommendations for a good machine shop? I am in the southern Indiana area.

Also, should I stick with OEM replacement pistons, or is there an aftermarket company that makes a better product. I assume the the OEM locator pin problem has been fixed on new ones?

Pin migration is NOT a piston problem its a block cooling problem thus the water mod. I use WSM exclusively......
