1998 Johnson 50hp still dies at idle speed after running for over an hour

Still trying to figure out why the motor dies idling or at idle speed when warm. Through the process of elimination, and fixing just about everything else, I suspect it may be either an old fuel hose or diaphragm in the fuel pump, possibly both. The carbs have been rebuilt, new spark plugs, and new water pump. The VRO has been disabled so it runs on 50:1 pre-mix. I only run ethanol free gas with good semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil. I even mix a little seafoam in there too. I suspect there’s less than 200 hours on this motor total. Boat sat on a farm for many years before I rescued it. The tank and hose are most likely original, from 1998. I don’t believe the mechanic did anything to the fuel pump besides disable the VRO. It idles fine when first primed and started. Inevitably, when I’m coming back into the dock to put it on the trailer after running a while, it dies at idle speeds. Makes no sense. It should be warmed up. To be honest, I’ve never tried squeezing the bulb so I can’t tell you if it’s firm. So, I’m thinking the hose or the diaphragm is getting brittle and losing pressure? I’ve attached some pictures. What do you think? Does it look old and brittle? Is it easier to start with replacing the hose, bulb and connections first? If not the hose, is there a diagram or video where I can check the diaphragm inside this fuel pump? Thanks!

The idle adjustment/synchronization procedure for these motors is very specific and must be done in the proper order. Get a factory manual and follow the synchronization procedure exactly.

Don't know the compression. Don't have the tools to check. Idle RPM's in gear are just under 1,000. Thanks

Rpm too high, unless you are on muffs. Try an auto parts store for a loaner compression tester.
