1998 Merc Mariner Not Pissing

I was given a 1998 15 HP Mercury Mariner. I started it up in a water filled garbage can. It started on the 2nd pull, but does not appear to pee. Should it be pissing?

If it has a tell/tale fitting the answer is yes.Make sure you have sufficient water level in barrel.Try to clear the fitting with a paper clip or similar tool.If it seems clear ,trace the hose that supplies the fitting back to the block.Disconnect it and make sure the hose and block fitting are clear of obstructions.

Also remember that motor has a thermostat that may take a minute or so to open and release water through the pee tube. If you freshly filled your barrel with tap water, chances are it was around 50 degrees, it may take a little while for the motor to warm up.<br /><br />On another note, if you have ran it long enough, and you are getting water out of the back of the motor, but none out of the pee tube, chances are a little bug has crawled up there and built himself a home.<br /> Remove the tube completely and and blow it out with compressed air. Probably make the bug mad, but, he didnt pay for the motor and you arent charging him rent. Pee tubes clogging is a normal thing. I have seen them clog with mud and sand also.
