I have a 1998 mercruiser 5.7 alpha 1 gen 2 and it stalls coming out of forward gear before it went into the water i changed the lower shift cable and bellows. I have tried to adjust the cut out switch but clearly i am missing something its a little confusing i dont have the roller style where you can bend the arm it is a plastic piece with a v and a switch. How do i fix this? Coming out of reverse is fine the only issue is coming out of forward.

Something is binding up... How does the shift cable feel when you move it with your fingers?

if you mean the one that goes to the outdrive it feels good i mean i replaced it when i did bellows at beginning of season and have had this problem since not sure if it did it before the cable tho as i didnt have it in the water cause bellows where shot. its just weird cause reverse is fine both ways going into gear is fine its just coming out of forward into N. and sometimes not all of the time if i take it out of F into N and go SLOW it wont stall.

You should watch Chris' Alpha Drive Shift cable adjustment video and do the steps exactly one more time. Then, if you are on the water, disconnect the wire going to the interrupt switch if it is still dying. That will tell you if the lower shift cable and or interrupt switch is the issue.
