Two of the jets on one carb are different, I just figured they would be the same and took them both out and now need to figure which one goes where. I am not sure what these jets are called but have attached a picture. Can someone tell me where the larger jet might go? The only clue I have is that one of the air neeedles was backed out a little more from bottom than the other. One jet is a .028 and the other is a .032. On the top carb, they are both .052 and on the middle carb they are both .028. I feel it is probably a tuning thing done from the factory, any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1998 Mercury 200HP carb jet question

Those are bowl vent jets. Yes, on high horsepower engines, jetting is often varied to compensate for other factors, like airflow.

The best bet would be to look up the parts list for your motor at Mercury, get the proper maintenance manual, and the jet charts will be in it.

I have one question. Why would you mess with high performance carburetion when you can't name the parts or keep track of details? Do you like disaster?

hope it helps

I pay attention to details more than most. Thanks for the GOOD input.
