Temperature is not being displayed in the gauge, I found the tan wire coming out of the sensor but its loose, I need to find the wire that goes from the motor to the control panel. Does it go inside the harness to the front? Does anyone know how to find it?

Thank you!

Tan wire is alarm on 75 -125 engines of that timeline. OT sensor is imbedded in the water jacket(s) (maybe one on each bank on yours and Y'd together) providing a ground to the horn which is near the remote control, or in it.

Tan wire external and tan/lt blue stripe wire in an 8 pin harness is pin 3. Where it breaks out depends on your boat mfgr and the remote. If not in the remote will be a pigtail up under the dash to contact the low side of the horn. High side goes to switched 12v...purple or red with purple stripe.

leave tan/blue on starboard head and on buzzer completely alone.. it has nothing ta do with a temp gauge.. sensor on "port" head is for "temp gauge".. should be a tan/blue with a 1/2 a bullet connector (don't remember if its tha male or female end) there should be a single tan/blue with tha other end of tha bullet connector all by itself sticking outta tha "male" side of main harness at motor.. you should find a tan/blue already made up at tha buzzer.. leave that one alone.. tha temp gauge should also have a "different" tan/blue made up on it or jus taped up under tha dash.. thats tha same one thats at tha male end of tha harness and plugs into tha tan/blue coming from "port" head ...

I'll take a pic and post it so you can confirm it's what you're referring to. right now I got another issue that i have to fix before the temp gauge. My control box (Old quicksilver) with the round button on the side, won't engage either F or R. I lubed the box and now it's very smooth, throttle cable works fine, but the gear cable does not move. Is there anything eletronic that will keep the box from engaging? I tried to remove the cable to see if it would move without the box but those nuts are seized in place... any ideas?? thanks
