Hello,
I am a new one to this site so in advance thank you for all your help! I have been reading topics on this site and decided to join because it is so helpful.

Anyway,
On Sunday I took my 20 ft pontoon out with the above mentioned motor on it. shut it off in the middle of lake to swim a bit, then when tried to start it would not start. I then pushed the gear disengagement button on the Quicksilver 3000 top mount controller and idled it up to start, it fired right up. I then noticed that it was hard to push into forward but would go. So I went to drop my wife off at dock to get truck and quickly realized that I had no reverse gear it just revs up. I also noticed that to put into neutral and start motor to control lever was more on the R mark than the N mark. Needless to say loading was interesting, but got it done.

At home I am noticing a clicking sound when I turn the prop by hand in forward and the shifter rod bounces up and down when it is making the clicking noise (possible adjustment??) I unhooked the shifter cable to manually put into gears, it goes in forward fine, N fine but will not stay in reverse. Meaning that when I shift it into reverse manually when trying to spin the prop it pushes the shift linkage out of my hand and won't stay in. I think maybe my shifter cable needs adjusted and maybe the shift rod, not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. OH yeah, On top of all that, the start will not engage, it only spins. I havn't checked connections yet, does it need lubed?

Thank you!
