Good day! I’ve got a 98 seaswirl with a 3.0 OMC cobra. I ran it almost every weekend last summer and it ran great until labor day weekend. I went up the river about 70 miles to a marina but there was something wrong with their gas pumps so I couldn’t fill up. I tried to make it back down river to the nearest fuel, but my boat died suddenly on full plane. I assumed I ran out of fuel. I got a tow and filled it up but it wouldn’t start. I worked on it a bit on the water but it wasn’t getting spark. So I ended up using my kicker home and parked it for the winter.

I pulled it out this spring and still can’t seem to find the spark issue. I am definitely not getting spark but don’t really know how to test the ignition components. Most of the videos and sites are of a different style of coil. My coil looks like this. 9143F13C-98AE-4BF7-A84E-3626BEF68ADD.jpeg
How do I test it?

Awesome thank you for the response. I’ll see if I can perform some of these tests today.

I wanted to update and thank you for the help. I traced it down to a faulty kill switch. Shoulda been the first thing to check but I dummied out and started with the coil. Worked out though as I didn’t have any voltage there so worked backwards. Good news is bypassed the kill switch and it fired right up! I’ve got a new kill switch on order and will be on the water this weekend. Thanks again!
