Hey All,

I just bought a Skeeter w/ Yamaha 115 outboard and i am having issues. First,
it would turn over real slow or click and that was it so i replaced starter thinking it was done, original from 1998, that didn't work!

So i then replaced solenoid thinking maybe that would be the problem...NOPE! When i hook up battery cables the Starter keeps turning over wether or not the key is turned on!

Just an FYI, it doesn't matter which way i connect solenoid it does the same thing, i have the battery cable POS + to POS +on relay and NEG- to Starter NEG-

I have cleaned all connections, Could it be a bad ignition switch? I am not sure it matters as only POS and NEG were connected to battery, disconnecting brown wire on relay did nothing. Is the New relay stuck?

Any help would be great! Thank you in advance

if it was not doing this before you messed with it, I would think it is something you did that is causing the starter to engage when you hook up the battery.

start relay should not pick up unless there is 12 V + sent to it on the brown wire

it didnt do this until i replaced relay, I will test tomorrow. I thought that maybe the ignition switch might cause this as well

only reason I can think of is that you hooked something up wrong
