I have been having problems with my engine as I have posted in the forums. I have found that I have wires from my regulator have been the issue. The two yellow ones are cooked. I have the regulator on order but I am wondering what else could be wrong. What would cause the regulator to cook like that?

thanks for any help!!!

Under the flywheel are two different functional sets of coils. One is for triggers, the other for charging. If your yellow wires are toasted it says your shorted rectifier/regulator pulled too much current from the battery charging coils (alternator) and if the yellow wires are toast you can expect the rest of the circuit is too. I think that engine uses the 16 amp regulator which is painted red. You can (as I recall) look up under the flywheel with it in place and see the color which designates amperage. Need that too I'd bet.
