Hello. I have 99' 2 stroke - manual start that i cant keep running , i thought it was the fuel pump so i rebuilt the carb and used a known "good" fuel, tank and lines- checked the crankcase halves and didnt see any leaks. This motor doesnt have more than 15 hours on it. and still have the same problem i can only keep it running by choking it and playing with the timing advance but left alone it will die regardless of what i do.After lots of reading im thinking its a stator problem . I have a basic tester and for the upgraded "red" stator I should have a value of 660-710 ohms. i have only 412.(this is checking between the green/white and white/green leads from it) would this cause my problem?? they are about $140 for the stator alone. i dont want to be chasing down the wrong path - any advice would be helpful.
