I have the listed engine that started making a knocking noise. This started recently while running at around 3000 rpm. It makes the noise at idle as well as running. Thought at first it was possible bad gas due to the age of the gas or possible ethanol issues even though treatment had been added. We drained the tanks, changed the fuel filter/water racor, replaced all filters in fuel system under the hood, checked compression in all cylinders all around 110 psi, rotated engine to each cylinder 5 degrees past top dead center and pushed down on piston heads to check for worn wrist pins no apparent movement, replaced plugs, checked ignition wires. The boat has had very little use for the last year. The engine was decarbed prior to the summer season by spraying seafoam spray in butterflys to burn out carbon deposits. This noise started while under way and continues after the previous checks. Please send ideas of possible issues.
