Go to the Engine FAQs Forum, wolfriver. Do "Outboard won't start".

Let us know what you find.

hi wolfriver.

Apparently your motor will not start? You need to start with the basics.

Charge the battery.
make sure all battery and all other electrical connections are clean and tight.
Assure you have good fresh fuel, and it is getting to the carb.
Make sure the safety kill switch is in the run position.
Then check for spark on both cylinders.

What is the engine doing when you try to start it?

Does the starter spin and engage the flywheel?
Does the flywheel rotate?
Does it fire at all?
Does it cough or sneeze or sputter?

A copy of the Clymer Force repair manual will definitely be a valuable tool if you are going to work on this yourself.
We will help when we can.

everything seems good till i get to the selonoid i used a continuity tester and i had power comin in at the bottom wire and when i put the tester on the top wire and turned the key there was no power so that leads me to believe its the selnoid, right?
