Hi all I have a 1999 90HP 2 stroke, I just bought the boat 1999 Bennington 2050LX and it has a Mercury 15p prop, the boat revs to 6300 and no sign of horn or rev limiter.. any test I can run would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Re: 1999 90 elpto tach problem

Unless you have the SmartCraft system there is no Rev limiter, the prop size is the limiting load factor for WOT RPM.

Verify WOT RPM using an inductive mini-tach, if indeed it is 6300 then increase prop pitch @ 1 inch per 200 RPM or have your local prop shop add cup to increase prop load and reduce RPM.

Alarm functions for low oil (rapid beeping) and over-temp (solid tone).

Test the alarm, for oil disconnect the two blue wires from the oil lever sensor on the bottom of the oil tank and touch the two leads from the module side together, the alarm should begin beeping. For the temp alarm circuit simply ground the wire from the module to the temp sensor on the cyl head, the alarm should sound.
