1999 Johnson 115 - Compatable years

I have a 1999 Johnson 115 that was submerged while running. Before I start trying to resurrect this motor, I wanted to know what years are compatable or interchangable. My assesment is that the powerhead is shot, but the case and lower unit are fine. Can I try and find a 1998 or earlier motor with a damaged lower unit and make one whole motor?

Tin Man
I'm no expert at rebuilding engines, but you shouldn't have any problems finding a replacement powerhead of the OMC V4 60 degree 115hp non-Ficht variety which will fit your casing and lower unit. Sticking to the same model year if possible is always best as it makes your engine a more easy proposition for people to understand in future - ie not a hybrid of model years.

Have you clicked on the "Powerheads" link on the top of this page?

I checked out the powerheads. This will be my first attempt at rebuilding an engine. I have a friend who is having trouble with his older Evinrude lower unit and was wondering if it would be compatable.
