Well, today I took out my new used boat for a family outing along with my brother-inlaw and his wife in thier boat, they were my backup plan if needed to be towed back in.

After two weeks of tweeking the boat wiring, boat motor and trailer I was ready for my maiden voyage!
I left the dock and return to the dock under my own power. Once we cleared the channel and out to open water I proceded to push the throttle forward and see what this boat could do. Since this is my first boat I was very excited.

I got up to 30knt at around 4200rpm and was skipping across the water, it felt good, handled decent with the exception on a sticking throttle and steering was somewhat sticking as well. My prop is a 3 blade aluminum and needs to be taken to the shop to be rebuilt for a spare and I will be buying a new 3 blade aluminum prop.

I still need to do minor fix-up things but nothing major. I will have to look into the throttle and steering issues, get a new prop and do a lower unit oil change, perhaps a water pump replacement. I've already replace both thermostats.

I posted in another thread about the length of my trailor, was thinking about cutting the tounge down some, glad I was talked out of it. Pulling, backing up and corning were not the problem that I thought it would be.

All in all, it was a pleasant day today!

Thanks to all those that posted tips and advice to this new boater.
