1999 Johnson 150 Fast Strike Ficht

Greetings, I'm new to this forum. I have read much on the Johnson Ficht motors and the some of the problems this motor has had. I purchased a 1999 Javelin 379 Fish n Ski with a 1999 150 Fast Strike Ficht on it. I did my research on the boat, but not the motor. I have owned two Johnsons in the past, the last being a 1979 85 that I owned for the past 15 years, never put a wrench on it other than plugs and regular maintenance. I just assumed this would be a no brainer great engine. I was told the unit had very little use, which I confirmed when I had it in the shop, less than 60 hours. After reading the horror stories on the engine, I contacted the original dealer where it was sold from to see if the upgrades had been done. He could not confirm due to a computer system change, however he remembered the boat and purchaser and was confident that they were done. I did have to replace the ignition module, other than that the engine has performed very well. With all that I have read, every time I head out, in the back of my mind I have the ?is it going to blow up on me this time? thought, not a great thing to be thinking every time. Are there any good stories out there on this engine that might give me some peace of mind??? Or should I start saving for new power? Thanks, Nick
