1999 johnson 175hp ob motor what kind of 2 cycle oil should i use

i had the boat for two years now i did not ask the prevous owner what he used iv been using pennziol premium plus synthetic oil does not run verywell lately just woundering if im using the wrong oil if so what should i be using someone said synthetic is for newer motors

As long as it's TWC (two cycle, water cooled) it should be fine. I use TWC III synthetic.

TC-W3 synthetic oil is good in most 2 cycle water cooled outboard engines, regardless of their age.

The full synthetic may be considered an overkill in motors that mix 50:1 (or premix 50:1) but it will not hurt anything. Well, maybe the wallet..................
