1999 Johnson 25 HP, twin cylinder/OK Engine?

I've got a chance to buy a 1999, 25 HP Johnson, twin cylinder, electric start, outboard for $500. Compression is good and she ran fine on the sea trial. Anybody have any experience running this model outboard?

I purchased one brand new, the only new motor I've ever bought. I still use it and can't complain, it is a good engine. The only problems I've ever had with it is breaking the tilt/shallow drive mechanisms by hitting a submerged log at night Wide open throttle. Can't blame that on the motor. It is somewhat of a gas guzzler but not too bad. For the price you've said, I would quickly buy it before someone else does. It is a very easy starting, smooth running, reliable engine. And I don't have e-start!
BUY IT. By the way, did you check the lower unit oil? Either way, if it shifts fine and stays in gear wide open when you tested it, I'd still buy it.

Are u kidding me , for that price,, buy it if it ran good i would in a second ,, but at that price either the seller doesnt know what he has , because its worth more than that if everythings ok, ?????? or hes not telling you something........ You have gotton yourself a dandy deal if its a 99 , and runs good ,,,if you dont want it let me know ill buy it .. good luck...

SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll put it on my 16 foot Jon Boat and use her to chase down the ducks. Thanks for your help.

You'll like it!! I use mine for the same thing when all my folks are coming with me 'cause it has such good power. What a STEAL! Congratulations!
Now, I demand a pic of it hauling a mess of greenheads...
