1999 Johnson Ocean Pro 200

I am considering a 1999 Aquasport DC215 with a 1999 Johnson Ocean Pro 200. I have heard OMC went bankrupt and there were issues with quality and reliability on some motors. Is the 1999 Ocean Pro 200 a sound design and basically a good reliable unit? I sure would not like to buy into a known lemon. Thanks....

Welcome!!<br /><br />I'd worry more about the boat than the motor. And thats a pretty good boat.<br /><br />That motor was basically the same from 93 on. It's a 3.0 liter, closed deck, finger ported block. Very good design. If it was maintained correctly, it'll be fine. If it wasn't, it might not be OK. Just look at the basics -- compression, lower unit oil, overall condition etc. If it runs good, it'll probably be OK.
