1999 Johnson Owners Manual & Lower unit capacity

Anybody know where i can get a copy of an original (or re-print) of an owners manual?<br /><br />Also, how much fluid will the lower unit need? I know to fill it to the sight hole, but how much do i need to buy? <br /><br />Thanks

Tim, are you sure you want an owners manual or is it a service/repair manual that you need, there's a difference. Also 1999 doesn't tell us anything about the motors size.<br /><br />Manuals can be found at KenCook.com, MarineEngine.com, maybe Ebay.

Oops. Its a 225 Ocean Pro.<br /><br />I have a Seloc repair manual. I was hoping to find a owners manual that would tell me proper lower unit fluid capacity, spark plug gap, etc...<br /><br />Honestly, i really just want the manual because this is the first engine i have owned that is not a complete heap of parts. Before this one, my best engine was an 86 Merc 150 with about 8 zillion hours on it (and it showed)!!!

Tim, you want the service manual then, it contains the specs, maintenance instructions, etc. As for the L/U the best method would be to get the pump and a couple of quarts in case it takes more than one. If you have to change bottles during refil, reinstall the top plug in the L/U thus creating a vacuum, you'll see it seep out the top hole when its full.<br /><br />Also replace the seals or gaskets for the drain plugs each time you change the fluid.
