1999 Merc 150 Optimax or Optibomb?

My buddy just bought a rig with a 1999 150 HP Optimax. Is this one of the imfamous optibombs?

What years and HP were the problem years for the Optimax? I think it was the late 90's and early 00's, but not sure.

it was the 98s to 01s and some 02s.but that was the 200/225s.yes some 150s did pop. but only a few in my area northern wisconsin.do your self a favore change the plugs every year.
