1999 Merc 40 ELPTO

Finally settled on a newer (1998) Tracker with a 1999 Merc 40 ELPTO.

What do I need to know about this engine to keep it in top shape?

Are there any quirks or special things about the motor that I should know?

I checked Merc's website and could not find anything?

order manuals online, change bottom end oil every fall to prevent water damage in cold weather. change spark plugs every spring, change impellor every year or 2 depending on the usage. always start with fresh fuel, and quality merc oils. have your motor winterized prior to storing to prevent carb damage, clogging. hope that helps.
