Ok I have a 1999 Mercrusier 5.7 when I go to start motor, starts just fine at first, then stalls. Starts back up same thing. Tested Fuel pump volt meter it only gets voltage when starter engages, when the key is in the run pos. vols drop to 0, tested charging system at battery and it was at 13.9 ? Any Ideas guys?

Thanks

Carb or EFI? Did you check the fuel pump fuse?

Dave

The fuel pump only runs when you have oil pressure.
Have a helper crank the motor until the oil pressure gauge starts to show pressure then the pump should run.
The oil pressure switch is a safty device so you don't keep pumping fuel if the motor blows up.

It's common for the oil pressure switchs to go bad, I probably replace 2 or 3 every spring.
It's over the oil filter and has a purple and a purple/yellow wire going to it. Just jump across the wires to test the switch. If the engine runs, replace the switch. Item 5 below.
