1999 MERCURY 2.5 XRI 150 won't go to WOT

Motor died on me she was getting no fire on all 6 I took the kill wire off the front switch box and she fired right up. Boat runs good has full throttle in neutral or reverse but in forward gear almost nothing won't get hardly past and idle serial no# 0G144999 HELP!!

Sound like you lost a switchbox or low speed side of stator...its running on 3 cylinders.

Would a bad stator cause it to run high rpms and move at about 5 mph with lost of power?

Stator or switchbox will. Check spark on all 6 cylinders as they should jump a 3/8 gap with ease with a loud pop.
