I am looking at a 1998 Key West 1720DC with a 1999 90 HP Mercury 2 stroke. Any one have any experience/opinions about this engine. Thanks.

Don't like it, though some love it.

The one we had was rough at low speed and idle and always seemed to hesitate when opened up.

I have always prefered either a tohatsu or a yamaha. I have never thought much of mercury, but that's all my granddad would put on his boats (the old mercury stack).

I have never owned that model but a friend did and he seemed to have a lot of electrical problems with it, but, he never used it much and maybe that was worse than lots of use.he sold it in 2004 and he had replaced some ignition bits and pieces (some twice) and had starter problems as well.

I just found out that the oil injection has been removed. Have there been problems with the oil injection on this engine?
