I just "sea trialed" twin 1999 OX66 200's which have approximatly 400 hours. After warming them up and getting about 20 feet away from the dock the port engine overheated. Upon removing the head, it appears that salt build-up is clogging up the head and impeding the water circulation. The Yamaha mechanic tells me that this is a common occurance, nothing that a clean-up of the head won't cure (at a cost of approximatly $400 for both engines which the seller is going to pay) and should not stop me from purchasing the boat.
Also, the port engine was "peeping" just fine (the one that over heated) but the starboard was bearly. The mechanic believes that this is a sign that the starboard side must also be clogged.
The boat was not used much and was in indoor rack stored for a few months.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
