A buddy of mine is looking at a 1999 20 foot Trophy (WAC) with a 125 Merc and trailer. I have read a lot of positives and negatives about Trophy boats on the forum. Is this a solid boat or one that he should shy away from? Is a 125 Merc. under horsepowered for this rig? The dealer is asking $16,500. I thought that this was high!!!!!!! What do you think? <br />Stalker

it sounds a bit underpowered, but i didn't pull up the specs on the boat. for comparison, i had a 150hp johnson on my 20' center console. i thought it was just right, any less would have been difficult to get by with.

Depending on the condition and options the boat has, electronics, live wells, and such, the price might be a bit high but not too high. It might be a little under powered because NADA only lists a 150 as the standard engine. The Trophy is lighter than many fishing boats but it is a good value. Your friend could probably talk the dealer down a thousand or two. Sounds like a reasonable starting price though.
