Hey guys,
I picked up a 1999 Skeeter ZX202C last year, coupled with a 1999 Yamaha 200HP OX66. Fuel pumps were replaced early 2016, along with the lower unit they shelled around the same time they ran ethanol in it. I have done nothing, but throw gas, and oil (and seafoam/MMO) in every tank/every other tank (sea foam). I am a firm believer in MMO, and Seafoam, but I know ringfree is recommended, yadda yadda. The boat runs like a top, haven't had any issues aside from having to replace the keyswitch. I replaced the plugs when I got it, previous owner had owned it for 5 years, and never changed them. They didn't look that bad, but I replaced them regardless. I know it's coming up on time to start doing a little maintenance on this thing, and I would like recommendations/tips.
On my list of things to do:
*O2 sensor maintenance (I believe this only requires me to purchase 2 small gaskets, the rest is just removing carbon/cleaning the sniffer tube)?
*Fuel filter (The spin on/clear filter on the side) It looks pretty new to me, it's white and not covered in junk, but I mean..... it wouldn't hurt to change it(A part number would be great here)
*****Injector cleaning, I have read sending these off costs about $140 to flow test and clean the injectors, and it will come back with new Orings and screens.
(Can I remove these, and clean the screens myself?) the last thing I want to do is melt a piston due to a lean condition.
*I have drained the VST last year, and again this year, no debris, water, or any foreign objects came out. I let the clear container I drained the fuel into sit in the sun for a day or so to see if anything settled.
Here is the second part of my question, as mentioned above I am running this engine on a 20'2" skeeter bass boat. According to the tachometer I am running at 6000RPMS at WOT, correct me if I am wrong, but the operating range for this engine is 4500-5400?. At WOT I am getting 62MPH (66.9 was my very best run), this is turning the Yamaha 25Pitch-m2 propeller. My water pressure stays at 15PSI at WOT. I have spoken to a prop shop (after they tried to sell me 10 different props), I was told I should be getting 70MPH out of this prop, and they have no clue why I've got a 8-10MPH gap. Any suggestions tips/help?
Also, could anyone tell me the proper setup on my jackplate? I have tinkered with it some, but it seemed if I went up anymore, I would have some porposing issues at mid range cruise (front of the boat wants to bounce up and down) I could be wrong, but doesn't the Cav.....Av? plate need to be level with the bottom of the boat? On this boat there is the "bottom of the boat, where the plug and what not goes in), and then there is another section of the boat just above it. See link below.
https://goo.gl/images/xYwQoC (This isn't my boat, and I can attach pictures of my own setup if needed) Just currently away from the boat at the moment.
My main concern is to get some maintenance done, and drop the RPMS a little (if I am speculating correctly)
If anyone has a parts list, or a page to look up the parts list for the maintenance that would be great also.
