I'M GOING TO REPLACE THE FLOOR IN MY BOAT

i bought this boat 3 years ago. the previous owner did not store the boat proplery so the floor in the back is spungy. the hull is in great shape as well as the rest of the boat and the motor started right away. im just now am able to start working on it. the carpets in good condition around the seats other wise the floor is pretty worn down

COST RESEARCH

- 2 1/2" 4x8 marine grad plywood 100.00
- (blue marine carpet 3 rolls of 8 foot $90
- 1 Gal of (3M) fiberglass resin $79.99

PLEASE LOOK AND GIVE MORE SUGGESTIONS AND IDEAS ON HOW TO REPLACE THE FLOOR IT WILL BE MY FIRST TIME DOING IT

Welcome to iBoats!

I'm sorry but you are going to have to give a better more detailed description of what it is that your are doing. What happened to your boat and what are you wanting to do. Pics are NOT telling a good story.

IF... you are asking how to replace the ENTIRE deck of your boat then... 1 gallon of resin is NOT even close to being enough and your are going to need quite a bit more STUFF to get the job done. If the Deck is bad DON'T be surprised when you remove it when you find a LOT more problems below the deck. You should do a search on "Replacing Stringers" and "Replacing My Deck" You'll learn a lot.

Couple of suggestions; I'd use "Exterior Grade Plywood" (sometimes the "Marine" in the title just adds extra money for no other reason) and if you have a Lowe's or Home Depot, you can buy Marine carpeting for a lot less and get the exact size you need in one piece. I just re-did a 19' boat carpet from Home Depot for about $70.00 and they had Navy Blue.

You have to be ready for other issues that may pop up. Once you remove the floor, you may find rot in the stringers, which opens up a whole other can. The boat really looks clean from the pics. Good luck and welcome to iboats!

OK, be PREPARED!!! Did you look at the thread that pnwboat posted???? If your DECK is soft and spongy then I can almost guarantee that when you remove it you will have a LOT of problems to fix underneath. THIS WILL be a bigger project than JUST replacing the deck. BE READY for that. You cannot just put a deck over rotting wood and get back on the lake.
