Wow. Lots of water and lots of wind today. Put in at Gwynn Island and was getting blown around. My original plan was to cross the bay to an area called "The Cell", but with the wind (about 20 mph) and being by myself, I didn't take the chance of going arcoss. With only a 19 footer I didn't think it prudent given the fact I had water coming over the bow when I planed out.

It surely pays to pay attention. Coming back in through the area called the Narrows, I allowed myself to drift outside the channel and wound up on a sand bar. I bit of rocking with the engine raised and in reverse got me clear, but that is not something I want to do again any time soon.

But it was a good learning experience and hopefully I'm back in the bay for the Rockfish season.

The Cell use to be a great place for gray trout. Been years since I've been there tho.

Now go join the Chesapeake Bay Boaters Group. I think they are still at chespeakebbg.

Being from Pa I do most of my boating in the upper to mid bay. I joined the group but circumstances precluded my being on the bay this season so I haven't really been following their activities.

Thanks! Looks like they went from yahoo forums to a web page: http://www.chesapeakbbg.com/
